Prairie Summer  --  half-bred filly by Kerrymor Madison
This cute little 1999 filly is out of a Welsh mare, Molly. Summer is a  medium pony with a curious and loving disposition. She loves to jump things - logs, wheelbarrows, water troughs and has a huge, floating trot. She and her new owner, Jonna, are having a successful partnership in combined driving. Have fun you two and keep us posted.

Here is a note from Jonna in the fall of 2001 - "Hi Vickie - Just wanted to give you an exciting update on Summer. She is now 13 hands high, and last Sunday I hitched and drove her for the first time. She is wonderful to train -- so smart and willing! I would like to show her at the Connemara show in the fall! Cheers. Jonna

October 2002 - Summer and Jonna placed FIRST in driving dressage at the Reg. 5 Connemara Show held at the Hoosier Horse Park. They were fabulous! See new photos below . . .

Fall 2003 -- Summer and Jonna competed in their first combined driving event and did fantastic. Check out the photo of them in the dressage phase at the top of this page!

May 2004 -- Vickie - Just wanted to tell you what a marvelous pony Summer is! Last weekend, a friend and I went to Brown County to drive on the trails. We crossed streams, bounced over fallen branches, galloped up steep trails, walked and trotted down the trails, and managed to get down a washed out trail (I got out of the vehicle, talked to Summer to reassure her, then ground drove her through the hazard.) After a drive, she rested for a short while, then pawed at the hitching post to go out again. We drove trails A and J on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. . . Over the course of three drives, she has figured out how to negotiate the hilly trils, and when we ar trotting along, I have fingertip control. She lovs to work. You would be so proud of her! Jonna
(Thanks for sharing this great story Jonna! Great work with Summer.)
