Connemara herd sire, Kerrymor Madison, has several roles at Dawn of Promise Farm. First and foremost, he is a kind, honest friend. When he and his owner, Vickie Maris, are not riding in the snow, trail riding along the creek or giving pony rides to family and friends, Madison keeps watch over his herd of Connemara mares and foals. In 2002, Madison was honored by the American Connemara Pony Society with the An Tostal Hall of Fame Trophy for his performance and work as a Connemara ambassador!

Madison and Vickie compete in training level dressage and are schooling first level. They earned a Certificate of Achievement in Dressage from the American Connemara Pony Society in 1996. In April 1998, they competed at the Indiana Combined Training Association Combined Test and earned a fifth in the beginner (2 foot fences) division and a fifth in training level dressage out of a large class. In recent years, Madison has also been serving as a lesson pony for Vickie's intermediate riding students. (See photo of Madi and Amy.)

Madison's competitive accomplishments, athleticism, handsome good looks and disposition extraordinnaire have made him a popular representative of the Connemara breed.
madista1.JPG (27230 bytes) Vickie and Madison did dressage demonstrations at the top of the hour throughout the day during a celebration of pony breeds at the Indiana State Fair in August 1998. Here they are with the riders of the Shetland and grade pony mare who also participated in the exhibition. Click on photo to enlarge.

Madison's Heritage
Madison comes from a very athletic line of Connemaras who've excelled in the show ring as hunters as well as in eventing and dressage. He is by the talented Lynfields Kiltuck and out of the dear Hideaway Bay, "Heidi." This mare is by a Connemara stallion imported from England, *Blagdon Silver Gilt, who only sired a few ponies before embarking on a successful career as a show jumper in Canada.

Breedings
Madison is no longer standing at stud for outside mares except on rare occasions. He is still producing purebred Connemara foals at Dawn of Promise Farm and these youngsters are occasionally available for sale. (See list of Young Stock For Sale.)
