Meet Serendipity's Jenny

14.2 hand bright bay with star and two socks; DOB 1982; bred by Serendipity Connemaras in Nevada, Iowa

Sire:  Camus John's Gladiator   Dam:  Oak Hills Maggie

Serendipity's Jenny and her half-sister, Serendipity's Irish Spring, have produced several lovely foals at Dawn of Promise Farm. Jenny has spent her life as a Connemara broodmare and is positively one of the best mothers I've met. She's found that perfect balance of "doting mom - disciplinarian - guardian" and knows when to let the apron strings stretch and eventually cut. She is wonderful about sharing her foals with the people she trusts but will also stand watch over hers and the other foals in the field if the other mares need to nap or go get drinks or shade. I've seen her keep a rambunctious colt in line and nurture a timid filly. Her babies have very well-balanced, socialized personalities.

Jenny waits in line for her turn to get petted and asks quietly on days when she'd like to come in for the night. Usually she and her friends are in the field with access to sheds, but on occasion, she likes to come in to sleep in the shavings. I've had her on the farm since 1996, and without fail, she has waited until I could be present during the delivery of her foal. She waits at the side door of the barn when it is time. When I let her in, she marches to the foaling box and begins to nest. My other Connemara mares are more likely to sneak their foal into the world in between my hourly barn checks!

Here are the children Jenny has raised at Dawn of Promise Farm (all by Kerrymor Madison):

1997 Dawn's Dairinn - bay filly who is looking forward to her job as a performance horse and Connemara broodmare with her new family, the Baughmans, of Marshwood Farm, Lowell, MI

1998 Dawn's Ballinalee Sean - bay gelding who is moving into a career as a ranch horse for Dan and Maylyn Fleming, Menard, TX

1999 Dawn's Devin - bay gelding who is promising to be a wonderful dressage or combined training partner (sale pending)

2000 Dawn's Amber Glow - bay filly who is solid, correct and has an adorably kind, soft eye. New photos of Amber at age 2 posted in Feb. 2002. Click here.

2002 Dawn's Connell - red bay colt (gelded) by Kerrymor Madison. Connell is a budding dressage horse for certain and has moved to MN to live with Mary Mitchell! And wow is he handsome with four whites, a star and snip; foaled April 4, 2002.
